I am writing in response to the email below.
 
Please be advised that initial implementation of the Recognized Accreditation Policy will begin in 2024. Initial implementation will involve reporting of a medical school’s recognized accreditation status. 
 
This reporting is for information purposes only and will not impede an individual’s eligibility for ECFMG® Certification. 
 
If a medical school meets the Recognized Accreditation Policy, this will be indicated on the Sponsor Notes tab of the school’s listing in the World Directory of Medical Schools .
 
Please be advised that as long as your medical school remains listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a Sponsor Note indicating that students and graduates are eligible for ECFMG Certification it will not impede eligibility for ECFMG Certification. 
 
Please note that your eligibility to pursue ECFMG Certification will not be affected should your medical school lose its World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) accreditation status in 2024, so long as the school retains its place in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and maintains an ECFMG sponsor note.
 
As long as your medical school retains an ECFMG sponsor note, you may register for USMLE® Step exams according to your desired schedule.

Please be advised the 2024 Accreditation policy, known as the Recognized Accreditation Policy (RAP), has been adjusted so that it will not impact the eligibility of applicants that wish to proceed with the ECFMG® Certification process after it is implemented. Medical schools that are accredited will be reported as such, but applicants that are students or graduates of medical schools that are not yet accredited with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) will continue to be eligible for ECFMG® Certification purposes provided their medical school is still listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and still bears Sponsor Notes for ECFMG®  that include their year of graduation (or “current”). 
You may find the WDOMS at https://www.wdoms.org/ . If your medical school is listed and if that medical school has Sponsor Notes with ECFMG® that would include your graduation year (or Current), then graduates are eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification at this time. The school must have sponsor notes with ECFMG in order to be eligible.
